  • 99 TB on 97

I was wondering about the 99 throttle body. I get the drive by wire and fly by wire mixed up, but I know that they are the same from 96-99, then it switches for 2000-2002. the 98 is still an angled throttle body and the 99 is strait, but the bolt pattern changes. My question is, does anyone have a pic of the 99 TB to see if there is the opportunity to machine it with the correct pattern for a 96-98 and fill in the existing bolt pattern with JB weld or such.

This was just posted in the Intake/Exhaust forum, but 95-98 A4 TBs are the same and 96-98 M5 TBs are the same. 99 was the first year of electronic throttle control.

No, I dont care about the intake, I am wondering about the throttle body itself for a turbo application. The thread in intake/ exhaust didnt answer my question.
I am unclear as to weather the 99 is electronically controlled or still has the throttle cable. If it still has the throttle cable, then can the unit be machined, or can an adapter plate be made, that will allow it to be used.

Then you're reading the wrong thread in intake/exhaust because I am talking about the throttle body.

That is incorrect. 99 was the first year of electronic throttle control. A 99 throttle body simple will not work on a pre-99. See my post above for compatible throttle bodies.

Here is my 98 TB on a 99+ spacer. The bolts on the bottom line up, but the top one is off. http://home.cfl.rr.com/mkaprocki/Camaro/throttle.jpg

ok, if its electronically controlled it doesnt matter. too much other crap to mess with to make it worthwhile.
still not seeing the thread in intake/ exhaust your talking about, unless its under some misleading topic... or Im just staring at it and missed it. Based on the searches I did I got conflicting info about the 99. Thanks guys.

Viper, you're forgetting that it's also electronically controlled. You're gonna have to do a hell of alot more than just bolt up the TB.
