i was racin around with my buddies in a 99 M3 and a 01 cl type s, and i can hang off the line, to about 50 and then it just gets ugly, now obviously i wont make the same top end as a 3.2 liter DOHC 6, but i do have them by ~40 cubes and a lto more low end, i just need more up top, i plan on getting a converter to help with the bottom. if i buy heads from a cutlass 3.8, can i stick them on mine (id obviously port & stick good springs and stuff and add a cam) would that give me the ~40 hp i need to really compete?

There was a thread a few weeks ago on switching between the 3800 II that we have and the 3.8 that is in the FWD cars. But I don't think that it is as simple as switching the top ends.1995 Firebird 3.8 A4, 140,000 miles and going strong
Basically Stock, college=poor
Junior Mechanical Engineering Student: Milwaukee School of Engineering; Cpl, MN Army National Guard...just got promoted :)

Just get your heads ported/polished and get everything from supersix you will have mad top end after that should get pcm programming to get the max power from the powerpack also, zooomer at zzperformance does this, if 7 or more of us get in on it we can get the custom programming for 300.00 instead of 450.00 so lets get this going Longtubes, true duals, ram air, caspers tps tec, ls1 26lb injectors, supersix powerpack, heads milled .020, comp cam .507 220/224 114 ls, forged internals and chromeoly pushrods, bored .030 over, tb spacer, tranny built with stiffer springs and kevlar bands, bigger servo, transgo stage 3 shift kit, edge 3600 stall, 1 pc aluminum ds, 3.73 superior gears, lsd rear ,custom pcm tuning, walbro 255 in tank,

As Ive said before, the only thing that is limiting us on top end is the stock cam.
Any higher duration aftermarket cam just really opens up the potential our 3.8s have... GM really detuned the 3.8 something awful.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

About how much power do you think our 3.8s could make with a well chosen aftermarket cam?-Chris
2001 Pewter Camaro M5
Current Mods: NOS Dry Kit and a few others
N/A: 15.5@88.9MPH
N2O: ???
http://www.cardomain.com/id/jtusa69888
