• revs per mile/odom Q

with my 235/55/16 i will have 794.50 revs per mile.
changing to 265/35/18 i will have 822.13 revs per mile.
if i dont have the pcm tire size changed, and i put on the tire that has more revs per mile, is my odometer going to be putting on more or less miles than it actually is ?

Wow, good job answering his question.

The correct answer is that it would show more miles. You drive 1 mile, so it takes 822 revs. The PCM thinks it takes 794 revs per mile. 822 is more than 794, so it would add more than 1 mile to the odometer.

hmm well i better get that changed if i had it changed to show 265/35/ while i still had my old ones on would it have any affect besides putting on 'less' miles or maybe faster odometer

Or you could try gettin a tire with a closer ratio to what you already have. 275/40-18s will get you a 1.8% difference from stock, insted of -3.3%. The cheapest tires Tirerack has in that size is $155 each. Or an even closer size is 285/35-18, that gets you a -1.2% difference from stock. Tirerack has some of those for $177.

yeah.. which is kinda much.. im getting my four fuzions for 585 before ship. which is around 146$
but the cheapest one in that size really isnt one of the better tires either.

i think the only one i liked was the pirelli m&s which was like 175 which comes out around 100$ more, is it worth it? plus thoes are all season tires

Plus the cost of having the computer recalibrated for the tires.

I musta missed the part about you changing your gears too. That seems like your best option then man. Good luck. You might want to have them do a little extra to the PCM for some power too. Later.

Speed limiter, rev limiters, shift points, delete some trouble codes, there's really a better place to ask about that. Try Advanced Tech. Since there are 2 companies now making Tuning Software for our cars, we have alot more people who know about this stuff.
