  • Door Skin Coming Off

Ok, I wasn't sure if this belonged here or in Appearance. I have a 99 firebird and the door skin on my drivers side door is coming off up front next to the front fender. At first it wasn't that bad, but now in order to get out of my car I have to roll down the window and pull the door skin in to open the door.

Has anyone else ever heard of this?? I talked with a body shop and they said that I should talk with a dealership b/c they'd be cheaper...that doesn't sound right. Any ideas??

    Thanks in advance.

my passenger side was coming off at the rear (by the handle). My solution was to roll the window down get some two part epoxy and put in there and clamp the skin to the door (with some protection for the paint). It's holding pretty good.

yeah they said it tends to happen at the back not the front. I'll have to try that epoxy as soon as I can get some cash

I've had the same problem on my drivers door several times before. I took it to a friend of mine who does body work and he tried gluing it back together. It held for a couple months but started coming undone again. We ended up using some king of epozy or glue and it has held up. It hasn't come off in allmost a year.

Both doorskins on my camaro are down to the bottom, but since i'm buying another car real soon(for winter, in MI snow sucks) and it's going to be in my garage, I figure why not take both doors off and re-glass it, among some other things(they need repainting, too)

I had the same problem with my passenger door.
              Soultion?
Took front Fender off to give better access to the join. Got some epoxy in there and clamped it tight for a good 8 hours or so.
Fender back on - good as new!
