  • T-Top Locks

I have a '94 Camaro. When I got it used it was missing the lock on the drivers T-Top. Junk yard here says I gotta buy the whole panel from him. Any Ideas? Thanks.

You could probably just get the lock cylinder from the dealer. If the junkyard guy has the T-top panel behind the counter, I can see why he'd say that... Otherwise the he'd be stuck with a T-Top panel with no lock. If the panel is out on a car somewhere, just pull the lock and buy it.

      Check dealership for pricing...

I just ordered some new rubber bushing pieces for the front and rear of the T-bar. $1.80 a piece. While looking for it, THey had an exploded view of the T-top, I briefly remeber it but they had the handle, and trim cover, may have the lock cylinder too... Check to make sure you get the retainer clip as well.

Also check around junkyards and on message boards. I am sure someone somewhere with a shattered t-top has a spare lock cylinder, and retainer somewhere. I'll hit up the guys I just sold my 2 spare t-tops too... But that was like 2-3 weeks ago.

i agree, if the panel is on the car out in the yard just take it. Those junk yard guys can be asses.
Anyway, how have you been driving the car without the top locking? I would think it would fly off.

Anyway its a really simple lock mechanism, its not the great of a lock by any means if you pull on it really hard the lock just falls out. There is just a simple little e-clip kinda deal that holds it in . . .

Yeah I'd check pontiac for that one. You could replace the passenger side too, so you can use the same key in both.

2 guys I sold to already through theirs out...

I'd scan some f-bodie boards and see if anyone shattered a t-top. Even ask around, for peopel parting out cars with t-tops. They might even sell it. Because, most people that lose a t-top, get the remains, then they transfer their lock over(since its just clipped in)

If you get a used one, if you know anything about locks and pins, you can rekey it yourself, if not I am willing ot bet you any locksmith will rekey it for like $8-12. I am not a locksmith and I ghetto rekeyed it(instead of putting new pins in, I rearranged mine, and just left one out and it worked with my key.)

Sure instead of like one in a million chance someone witll have a key to open it my chances are like 1 in 800,000 Which I am willing to live with since the lock is inside my car anyways.
