  • Is my MPG bad or normal?

On my last tank I did a little over 100 freeway miles in one trip and then the rest of the miles were brief freeway trips (under 5 miles) to and from work, around town, etc. So I got 243 miles out of 13.8 gallons, which is 17.6 MPG. I usually average around 16-18. I think my mileage should average out to at least 20's when I take longer trips like this. I do get on it a bit at times, but not that much really. It's an auto with 3.42's and I changed plugs/wires/fuel filter about 5000 miles ago but it didn't improve.

NAPA autoparts, if you don't have one talk to autozone or some place about B12 and its applications, i am not sure if it is used the same but it is a lot similar

ok I'll check that out when I get a chance. My car is coming up on 60,000 miles and I don't really know what needs to be checked out and/or replaced. I do need to get a transmission flush and change out the filter soon. Any other things that might need to be looked at?

Like Distephano, I get from 25-28 mpg depending on whether I do primarily city or highway driving. I think this is typical for an M5 with 3:23's, and yes I do get on it a good bit. When my wife drives the car she gets 30. Auto's are usually slightly worse, but I would imagine low to mid 20's... not sub-20's?
