• fuel injector removal?

Has anyone got experience in removing and re installing the injectors on a 3.4. How hard is it and how long would this take. I've got all the tools and am very mechanically inclined, just never worked on one of these motors half under the dash.
I'm asking because the car feels like its starvin for fuel at wide open throttle. I've replaced the fuel filter and changed plugs and wires, and tried several fuel injector additives with no luck. It runs fine other than WOT. How 'bout some help. Thanks. This is my first post and I've had this f-body for about to months.

yes, you have to remove the upper plenum, in order to have room to pull the fuel rail up and out of there. it might take you about an hour to get it all torn apart.

I had heard that too, however I am not sure if that is true. I will find out tomorow morning though I am pulling my fuel rail. In the Haynes manual it doesnt say you have to, and when you look at removing the intake manifold it shows removing the fuel rail, then the plenum, then the upper intake manifold. BTW how do the fuel lines come off? Any tricks to how to do it by tomorow would be greatly appreaciated.

You will have to pull the upper intake manifold and fuel rail assembly out at the same time. There is not enough room under the cowl to get the fuel rail and injectors out without taking the upper manifold out with it. Trust Tiago and me...we have done this many many times.

yup, tried it before, it wont come out without pulling hte plenum off.

also, I would investigate your fuel pump before thinking about injectors.

Ugh... How the hell to the fuel lines in the back come off? You know the two in the rear. I took the bolt of the left side of the cover, then slid that thing away from them. But they wont come out... How did you guys get them off? If I cant get it out after getting the fuel lines off, I guess i will have to remove the upper plenum. Is there anything I should know about that, like a tricky hidden bolt, or do I need a new gasket for it? Etc. Thanks I am going to go work on it some more in 30 minutes, so if you could IM me at TRHPF. BTW the O2 sensor on the passenger side bank is a B!TCH to get at if you dont have a pivoting head breaker bar. Instead of just a regular ratchet. The drivers side one came off easily.

Anyone? Do you just pull up on the fuel lines? Or do you disconnect them over towards the coil packs?

Disconnect the fuel lines near the ignition coils and take them off while still in the fuel rail...this will make it a lot easier for you.

I bought a pack of disconnectors at Kragen. And the closet one seemed to be the light blue one. THe red was too big to even fit. The next smallest is the blue, and smaller then that is something else but was way to small (maybe black color). Man these full lines will be the death of me... I slid the connector in and slid the female end down on it, then pulled up, it slides like 1/4" and stops... Man its one thing after another... I give respect to the people who have done this and not wanted to go crazy after or during.
