  • Strange Shaking Noise in Reverse

Well the gf was driving the car and she was driving down a dirt driveway with deep holes in it, of course she scrapped bottom of the car really hard. Now when you put the car in reverse it makes a grinding noise while backing up and the exhaust rattles. :( I was thinking it might be a tranny mount, any ideas what if could be? also the car is an A4, thanks

Well I'm at work right now but I went out and looked at the car and it started and was quite and then when I put it in reverse the noise was back. Drove around the block and I hurt the rattling when I hit a pothole, parked the car and left it in reverse with the e-brake up, my cat is what looks like is making the noise rattling, I put my foot up against it and no noise at all. I'll be putting the car up on jacks tommorow and taking a closer look just to make sure. If it is gone I think I'll just removed the cat and put in a striaght pipe since there is no emissions for where I live. Thanks for the reply also Cassie, it might be something similiar going on with yours
