I have a 2001 3.8 Series II. I heard that they work well. Is this true? Do you need a programer after you install the themostat? Kewl web site by the way......

Some people say its great, others hate it. So far I havent had any problems with mine and I didnt have to reprogram the computer. The engine seems to run a tad cooler as it should. Hypertech suggests that you reprogram the computer to 160 degree thermo but you that dont have too. It should still work fine.

I had the 160* thermostat in mine for a while no problems, then I finally got the power programmer and reprogramed my computer for it and I don't know what it is but I can FEEL it now. It still says the same ol temp but I think its calibrated for a 195. runs the same after an hour as it did when I started it up

I didn't want to go so low as 160, so I went with a 180. I have faith in the engineers who say the engine should run at a certain temperature, but my car began to run a little hotter than it used to and that's when I got a 180 degree ACDelco thermostat from Autozone.
