Well regardless or not of 6% drivetrain loss, that combo ain't making 700 hp without nitrous. I'd like to see a 23* head NA 357 (358) sbc making 700 hp with pink rods and a turned cast crank.
btw, this is my first post in close to 2 years I'd say.

Thats not a 700HP motor. Also, he'd probably gain more HP if he would change fuels to VP C-12, he doesnt have enough compression for that much octane. 700hp out of a small block is not an easy task, especially with only a solid cam. Nascar only makes about 50 more horsepower adn their heads flow about 100cfm more with way way more R&D, sorry, not happening. I'd bet it would make in the 3XX's on a rear wheel dyno because of the gear and a bigger converter

Well i dont believe him either but my dad and i travel and drag race a 1963 Chevy II and its got a 362cid motor and it dynoed at 740HP not to the wheels tho but it manged to run a 9.18 @ 145MPH and it lost oil pressure and threw a rod on that run too, so under full power id say it should have ran 8.80-90's, this is all motor too and the car weighs 2400lbs. So to make a long story short i dont blieve him either, not with the setup hes runnin.

What kind of heads are on this motor? Im not sayings its impossible but with a run of the mill 23* heads and a solid cam, never. We've built a 421 18* motor that made 813hp and 6XX torque but its a lot bigger and the heads flow probably 70 CFM more with a big roller cam. It ran a 5.57 in the 1/8th at altitude in a 2450lb 68 camaro.

My bad i put 362cid its 372 cid and the heads are some aluminum buick heads. This motor is far from your normal small block. Its a high dollar motor. The carb and intake were both sent off and worked to where they matched and flowed better which ran around $3,000. The car ran a 5.69 in the 1/8th.
And the same motor in a pro stock like cavalier its ran 5.17 @133 in an 1/8th and 8.11 @170 in a 1/4. no one ever believes this motor makes that much power but it does. My dad runs HOT ROD in IHRA and its always one of the fastest cars in his class eveywhere we go. It leaves the line a 7200 RPM and shifts at 8600RPM it SCREAMS!

I've got a set of Nickens Buicks in the shop right now. I need to sell them, they come with the heads, all the valves, springs, retainers, single dominator sheetmetal intake, valve covers, Jesel shaft mount rockers. Would your dad be interested? I was told they made 850hp on a 352 and were run on a C/Dragster in Comp. They flowed 353@.700 lift, its the best flowing set my dad has ever seen. My dad runs Top Sportsman in his car, there are pics of his car at my website. It used to have a 509 BBC that ran a 5.23@132 in the 1/8th w/one carb and Brodix 2x heads. We put two carburetors on it but never had a chance to go run at sea level again. We're in the process of building a 393-406 SBC with some Splayed valve chevrolets that should really haul ***. The car should be able to get down to around 2050lbs with a driver and a small block in it. It should be pretty neat. A high winding small block in Top Sportsman is definately a rare deal.

I dont think my dad would be interested because weve got enough parts laying around that were about to put together a 434cid motor with nitrous and run Top Sportsman, we should be able to run 4.50-60's in an 1/8th in the cavalier it only weighs around 1700lbs its extremely light! and will fly! go to WWW>KYPERFORMANCE.COM and you can see pics of bothe the Chevy II and Cavalier

Hey Sean, do you guys ever run the Quick 4's or Quick 8's in London? I'm good friends with Gary Watters, my brother is part of his crew, and we help him at a lot of races.

No we actually havent started running Top Sportsman yet but yes we do know Gary Watters and actually all of places weve been to weve never ran at London before. That Alterd that Gary has will absolutely fly! Ive seen that car run low 4's at Clay City.

He ran a 4.00 at London last time he was there, and he went a 3.96 at South Carolina last year. You're gonna see even more of a beast this year, I can't give any details but damn it's gonna be ridiculous.
