Advantages of Different Hoods?

Ok, once you get past looks and get to performance what are the advantages of the various styles of hoods?

I know ram-air hoods have their obvious advantages in that you can get ram-air induction but what about cowl induction? I'm not quite sure how those are suppose to work but I heard they don't do much for cars like ours that have intakes in front instead of on top of the engine. I would assume all a cowl hood would do it maybe cool things off a bit while moving. Ram-air hoods seem to be way to difficult to make functional in the pre-98 camaros and the only one that seems to actually work for ram-air is the Z-Style hood which requires some jerry rigging to get it to even do anything. Which hood would be the best to get or is it pretty much all about looks?

well i have a cowl induction hood as you can see in my website in my sig. it really doesn't give you power but it frees up power, it's fiberglass so it's lighter. i think it's like 20-30lbs. lighter than the stock metal hood. so it does help performance wise and bit and looks pretty d*mn good.

1) Less weight
2) Relocates weight percentage more towards the rear
3) Cowl hood can allow unwanted engine heat to escape.
4) Improved fuel economy due to #1 and #3 (technically)
