with the tubular manifold cars we have straight boots on all wires. I have never had a problem with the straight boots. no burns, nothing. If you get straight boots your stock boot shields might work. You might even be able to squeeze the new 8mm wires into the stock boots if they are in good shape and still usable.

Your stock heat shields should still work. I bought the MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor wires from FTPP.net and they work fine with the stock heat shields. FTPP.net is a great place to purchase from, they have great prices and excellent service. I personally will be ordering everything I can from their website from now on.
