  • 3.4L vaccum t-fitting question...

Alright started my car, started reving high as soon as I started it, simple a vacucm or manifold leak, pop the hood and find the big T-fitting for hte vaccum sensor top and dead center of the upper intake manifld is crakced and popped off. I popped it back on, drove fine, but I have a feeling its going to happen.

any idea where to get one, think auto parts stores wil have them in that "help" section, the section with all the odd and ends parts like window cranks, and certtain fittings?

or should I duct tape it and zip tie it.

for some reason I think I have heard of someone having the same problme but someone with a turbo or supercharger.

    Thanks in advance.

that little beauty is a dealer-only part.

good luck getting one at a autoparts store.

mine cracked too - rubber is hardened and stuff, and I just used electrical tape around it to seal it, just make sure you wrap it tight, and dont use DUCT Tape. the gas fumes make the stickum on the duct tape die, and it gets all gummy and nasty (i tried duct tape at first, electrical (vinyl) tape works better cause it stretches)

    have fun fixing it.

This is correct, it is a dealer only harness. The part number is 10217828 and will only be around $10 for the replacement of the entire assembly including the harness assembly that stretches all the way behind the intake to the PCV valve.

I know you use to have a similar problem to your idle has I do mine. It would surge or jump up and down until the car is warm. And even sometimes then it would still go. Did that T fitting do it for ya or did you have another problem?

        Please let me know,
        Chris

my idle seems a little bit higher then normal, but it now has the tendency to like to pop off.

it popped off because its not grabbing that pipe enough to hold itself on there. you need to wrap electrical tape (if you dont just go buy a new one) tightly around the rubber piece and make sure there are no holes. if there are any holes, pieces of it missing or anything like that, dont even bother, just replace it.

better yet, screw the tape--just replace it! :-p

i have to do the same with mine. im just waiting a little bit to see whats up with some parts i have... ;)

yeha I figured I was gong ot ahve to replace it jsut explaing my symptons to the other guy.

I tried super glueing it to no avail. The crack goes all the way up the side andeven on part of the top, I even with it on, I have a leak, I am just going to order one. I'll check if the part number above seems right.
