  • squeeling (searched, not much help)

i have a horrible squeeling sound (which is VERY embarrasing) coming from the front (wheels maybe) when the car is moving SLOWLY

when im crusing above 25-30, its fine...

but when im coming to a stop, it starts squeeling very loud as i get slower

    have a 98 camaro btw

I replaced my fronts(4 pads) for $20 at advanced auto. I would guess the rears are 4 pads but I am not sure as I have drums on the back.

well... replaced the front pads...(where noise seemed to be comin from)
and the noise has not stopped...
it still squeels somewhat (not as bad as before tho)

and, i found the old pads still had half of the pad left... and had a little groove in it that was raised up (sorry if thats confusing)

Pictures might help. Actually, please do take pictures and post as I am suffering the exact same problems.

now,i a little confused, does it do it when you start up the car ( just sitting in park )or just when you going slow?does it go away when you push on the breaks?

If the problem he's having is the same as mine, when moving slowly the wheels squeek and when coming to a gradual brake they also squeak. They don't just squeak for no reason.

This happened to me once with my old Grand Am. I learned that some (cheap) pads squeel on there on dust. I complained (loudly) and swapped them for a higher quality pad - no more squeel. I am not sure that is your problem, but something to think about.

Are you using performance pads? I put on Hawk performance pads which are known to make a little noise but nothing serious. Other thing it could be (but I doubt it) is the rotor could be warped. Usually if this is the case you'd feel your steering shake when you brake as well. But if the rotor is just so worn down then that could be the issue. I replaced mine with brembo's. like $75.00 off tirerack for a set. Nothing special just stock replacement.
