A 1998 should not have a distrubutor, but a series of coil packs. Maybe I'm wrong here, but the car I traded in (98 Ford Contour) had coil packs. The green signal wire spliced into the tach signal wire that came into the cluster from the dashboard. What color that wire is on your ZX2 is beyond me but you'll have to find the tach signal wire on the PCM or behind the instrument cluster. A service manual would be helpful for you.
