Always change at 3000 miles! It doesn't matter what the dumby light says, it has been shown you should replace the oil every 3000 miles! The light is just a reminder for people that don't go at 3000 miles, and most of those people are going to see a light, and take it straight to the dealership! That's what they wanted you to do when they made the light. And BTW, on my 2000 car, that light will come on about 4000 miles after the last time it was reset.<a href=\"http://www.fullthrottlev6.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.fullthrottlev6.com</a> THE SOURCE!

Yup roughly 4000 miles my 00' gives me a light... or it turns on everytime I start my car since I never reset it. I dun need no stinkin' light....00\' firebird v6 5spd<br />201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq<br />\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"<br />WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk

Just change it every 3000 miles and you'll be happy. Some oils are good for 6-9k but I wouldn't bench on the numbers claimed... for such a small expense its a silly thing to gamble on. If I were you, when that light comes on I'd rip out the bulb.

Always every oil has been proven over 9k, they have 'shown' that you need to every 3k so that they can make more money. It's like listening to the RIAA on how much music helps you relax. I do mine 3-4k, but I have, on rare occassion, let it get to 7k when I just couldn't get the oil changed. I don't know, no one seems to have an honest answer for it though.

Sure it may last longer than 3K miles, but why risk it? Little breakdown in there, an unprotected bearing, and all of a sudden you're out alot more than the expense of even a fuill synthetic oil change! Buy your oil at Sam's Club or Wal-Mart and you'll get it cheaper than at the parts store 98% of the time.<a href=\"http://www.fullthrottlev6.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.fullthrottlev6.com</a> THE SOURCE!

yep always i know they tell you 9000 miles but with a 1984 850,000 plus documented miles on a non rebuilt engine and a hi miler file with gm i always change 3000 miles or 3 months with out fail thats the rule and i have kept my car for that long experience dictates with as much money as we have in our cars follow the rule or pay the toll
