• misfire / stuttering problem

scanned the computer but no codes this time (SES light hasn't been on in awhile). last time i had it checked it said cylinder misfire, i forget what else but my mechanic thought it was a faulty maf. replaced the maf and no difference. plugs/wires have been changed too and no difference. sea-foamed it and no difference. there is a small leak coming from the EGR...could this be the problem? when at a red light the car will stutter every few seconds, and it has gotten worse lately.

if you've removed the MAF screen, then that is your problem... on the EGR thing get some JB weld and fill up the hole, if the problem gets better, please let us know!

JB Weld is like a bond. It can be bought at NAPA, AutoZone, and pletty of other places.

I am seeing alot of this stuttering problem. I also have it right now..... the code my car is giving blames it on the EGR position sensor, but my car doesnt have one !!! I explained what my car is doing to some mechanics at the Pontiac Dealership here yesterday. They all agreed that the EGR valve wouldnt cause the stuttering.

also when it does this, the battery voltage meter will drop a few volts then go back to where it usually is afterwords. it couldn't be the alternator or battery could it?

No, its not a charging system problem. The fluctuating voltage reading is just a symptom of the real problem. I had the same problem so I starting unplugging various computer control components while the car was running. Once I unplugged the MAF, the idle evened out and ran good. I plugged it back in and the stuttering problem reoccurred. My MAF still has its screen since it is necessary. I will have to look into this problem tomorrow with more detail. Either wires, plug or MAF.
