• Y87 - I have no sticker

Yea, that's right, I had an accident over a year ago and I think the body shop didn't give me the sticker that was on the door when it had to be replaced. I've searched both doors all over, and glove box and there is no sticker. So it was either thrown out or taken off by its previous owner.

its a 98, when i bought it, it had the factory dual exhaust. It has the rear disk brakes which i understand wasn't standard until 1999.

so how can I check if i have the 3.08's or the 3.42's? can the dealer find out if i give them my VIN?

and yes, i searched, but no one else was missing their sticker

what are your shift points? You can compare to me...see if you match up..

1-2 shift just under 40
2-3 shift at 75

60mph in top gear = 1950rpms (autotapped it)
85mph in top gear = 2600rpms
93mph in top gear = 3000rpms

If your RPMs are lower than what I stated then you have 3.08s. If they match you have 3.42s like me. As for LSD...??? Go do a burnout and see if you leave 2 tire marks.

They were standard in 98 too.

i believe since you have dual factory exhaust (turndowns? im assuming?) that you have y87.

or you can do a burn out and get someone to see if you have any one wheel action.

yes Loochy, I did have the turndowns, but I jacked the entire back end of my car up and turned it on, only the right rear wheel turned. I guess I'll just do a burnout

While you have your rear end up, it's probably about time you changed your differential fluid. While you are in there, see if you have a limited slip diff and then count the gears and calculate your ratio.

Write down your VIN and go to your local GM dealer. They can look it up and give you a computer printout that shows all the original factory codes.

I had to do this with my car when first purchased as the sticker on my glove box panel does not match what the car has... apparantly at some point it was replaced.

yea, so when I jack up the rear, only the right tire spins.

I tried to do a burnout, but it left no marks. that was last night.

tonight, i had a friend look at each tire while i powerbraked it. both wheels spun, he said.

So if i have Y87, then both wheels would spin while it is jacked up, right?

I'm so confused

Did I forget to mention the GM dealer did this for free? It only takes them a minute or two to enter your VIN and print out the sheet that will give you all your factory codes.
