• Going to the dark side.

Well I'm switching to Ford. I sold my IROC-Z and selling my 02 RS. I bought a 1991 Mustang 5.0 with mods. It has a Cobra upper and lower intake, cam, heads, K&N, chip, throttle body, bigger injectors, headers, H pipe, flowmasters, 3.55 with posi, hurst short throw shifter, king cobra race clutch, race suspension. The car is very fast with all these mods, outruns the new GT's. I know a lot of you say these cars are slow, but I can guarantee most of them were stock or automatics. My next mod is to put a 347 stroker kit in it with forged internals, then it will fly. Not to mention I already have a wet NX kit for it after the engine is rebuilt. I know a lot of you dont like the foxbody mustangs, I didn't either till I drove this one and got it, they can be very fast.

Hope you've got the $$$$ to replace the transmission about 10 times. :D My fratenirty brother in college had a 92 foxbody GT he got the car new and by 97 was on his fourth transmission. Apparently this is a common problem with ford trannys both auto and manual.

Well I always had problems with the 700R4 in the IROC-Z I use to have. Every couple months there was something. Just because he had trouble doesn't mean I will. This car runs and drives better than the 85, 94, and 02 Camaros. Parts are extremely cheap for me. Helps when your good friends run a performance shop and install parts free.

I hope everything works out for you. I love muscle cars whether it be a ford or GM car, at least it's not a rice rocket. I just have heard way too many foxbody transmission stories. Kind of like our EGR valves, most everyone has a ***** about them...very rare to find someone who's never had a problem. Good luck with your car. I've always liked the foxbody.

I'm not much of a foxbody fan, but you don't need to be chastised for this nonsense. If i couldnt drive an f-body, id drive a mustang. theres nothing wrong with that. It's not like i'd be driving a NEON *cough* or a honda.

              congrats on your purchase

those things have a lot of low end torque, i've driven one

I plan on getting a better tranny for it anyway. But I still like Camaro and Firebird. Would you guys rather I bought a Civic or some kind of japanese car? Not like I'm turning into a ricer.

dude yeah there is something to be said for loyalty: it's stupid.

i love F-Bods, but i am not loyal to GM... they only made our bad a$$ rides to get cash dude, they aren't enthused by anything except cash.

Cars are cool, but MY CAR will always be cooler.... why? it's just a v6... but it's MINE, and i can understand why anybody else would feel that way, my mom with her maxima, my sister and her 240sx, my friend michael and his 300zx.... that dumbass zack and his riced out focus, we're all pretty much the same and putting up barriers or talkin s*** just because someone drives a different car than you is just not cool.

just my 2 cents, or was that more like 5 or 6?

you shouldnt have a problem with the trans if you get a good one.

my friend has a 93 fox body with a 358W in it, bout 550 n/a hp and about the same torque, and he has a Tremmec TKO trans in it, and it holds up fine.

some fox bodys are fast, but most are not. esp the auto ones. they are dogsleds.

Yes, the TKO is what I will eventually get.

the 87-93 model cars are junk. Don't hold up well, and rust out pretty quick. I would not go from a rs camaro to the fox body platform.
