Radiator Overflow canister questions...

is it safe to totally block off the overflow?

because over the years of my battery sitting on top of the overflow line.. it rotted away the overflow tube.

which means when the car would warm up, it would just dump all the coolent to the ground causing my radiator to go dry after about an hour and a half of driving.

today i emptied the overflow canister, and totally blocked the tube off to where it would not flow whatsoever. is this safe to do?

It's there for a reason. Replace that line ASAP. It serves as a resovoir for over flow & suks it back in just in case you get a leak & start running hot. PLus it keeps you legal @ most tracks ;)
