I tried taking my car to Autozone just this afternoon, and found out that they can't read the codes on my car because it's a 94. They said they have problems with 94's and 95's. SO that was a waste of a trip.

So what you're saying is that the only problem was the plugs? If that's the case, that would put my mind at ease quite a bit. That's probably what I'll try first, and if that doesn't fix it, I'll start checking my other suspicions.

Thanks for the help AlienInv8r, and everyone else who has given me advice. If it does happen to be something other than plugs, I'll let you know.

Well Dude, I retract my previous statement completely. The mechanic told me he had fixed it (that was when I posted, trusting his judgement at least  ) That was definately not the problem. I picked up my car and punched it around the corner, well, it sucked just as bad. I would've turned right back around but I was late leaving for work already. I'm going back first thing tomorrow morning to give him an earful for jipping me. $300 for him to throw in some new plugs that werent needed at all, and then for the problem to stay the same if not get even worse. I'm so pissed; I'm telling the guy to either refund me for charging me for parts that I didnt need, or to fix the rest of it at no charge aside from minor parts charges. That's absolutely ridiculous in my mind that he would tell me everything if fine again, charge me $300, and then have it be worse. That kinda money is hard to come by on a college budget. ARGH!!! But yeah, that didn't solve the problem unfortunately; I think I'm cursed, my car wont run well for more than like a month at a time before something else goes wrong. I know I take good care of my car, It's just so irritating, I think I'm gonna sell it cuz I can't afford all this maintenance. :(

Damn. I hate mechanics who try to pull crap like that. Thanks for letting me know, though, that that didn't fix it.

If I were you, and you do get it back in the shop, I'd have the 02 sensors checked. Thats what I'm REALLY leaning towards on mine. But so far, I haven't been able to get mine into a shop  . I hate it when my mechanic gets busy.

And you're not the only one who's thinking of selling their car if this stuff keeps up....

Yeah, I went back this morning and was like "yeah, you uhh made my car worse...". He said he can take it in again next week, they're now trying to tell me it's either the wires or the coils. It sounds like their guessing, I don't understand why they want to charge you $70 for a diagnostic that doesnt tell you jack-squat. The one mechanic took a ride with me and I showed him what the stuttering was. He said if it were up to him that he would fix it for a minimal charge, but the owner is stingy about getting his money and said he'd waive the diagnostic fee for next week. I dunno, it's making me crazy man, I just want my freakin car to run right again. On a side note, I really think I am going to sell my car. I just can't afford all these repairs. Maybe I just oughta go back to a beater until I'm finished with college. The mechanic who rode with me was also tellin me about his friends supercharged Z, I wish I could just buy something like that. Ah well, as soon as this is fixed I'm gonna start looking into selling it and asking prices and stuff. I love the car, but its gettin to be a PITA.

See if he will do it as "sidework" Dunno, worth asking him if It will save you a few bucks. If not, goto another mechanic.

Aight, well maybe the mechanic was right, partially. It wasn't just the plugs, he did the wires yesterday and my baby is back to running smoothly again. I guess the guy wasn't too stupid of a mechanic but was still expensive. So in the end, I had my plugs/wires/fuel filter changed and ended up paying freakin' $500 for it, tell me that isn't a rip off. I wish I'd have known that from the start and just asked him to change em both out. The wires are Belden wires and have a lifetime warranty from NAPA, has anyone heard of those before?? He said they were better wires than my Taylors, but I thought he may have just been playing up his product. Even though it was $500 to trouble shoot and fix all this crap, I am definately glad to have my car back and I was seriously smiling like ear-to-ear the whole way home, haha. But I wanted to thank everyone for their help, I really appreciate all the knowledge on this board.

yea i had that same problem and if any of you didnt know i talked to a mechanic here locally and he said for the 98-00 camaro v6's there was a recall on the number 2 and 6 cyliner plug wires. Dont ask me why just those 2 wires but i had to change my number 2 and it runs like a scalded dog. just a lil info in case yall didnt know o had questions about misfiring.
