  • manual fan switch problem...

    Hi guys im about to do the manual fan switch mod following these instructions.

    I haven't got started yet because I have a quick question. I searched for an answer already but didn't find one. On the instructions they show 3 wire box connectors down the fender well. I only have 2, whats up with this should I have 3? Which one would I wire into?

    They dont both have the same letters on the wires do they?? Just look for the one that has the letters "H" and "J". Also do you have two black connectors or a white one and a black one?? I would think you would have all three. Look harder. I would just tap into the front black connector.

      I just looked on mine and I have all three just like the picture. Have you looked at the instructions on the slp website?

        WAIT!!! There is a MUCH easier way to do this.All you do is tap into the fan relay in the fuse box under the hood and run a wire from a power source to a switch.It only takes about 30 minutes and you don't have to fool with relays or anything.I used the instructions below but I used a lighted switch so I had to run a ground wire and I didn't run my power supply from a source that was hot all the time.I ran it from the radio fuse so that the fans only get power when the key is on.That way I don't accidentally flip the switch and run my battery down.Good luck.

            wow, who's hood is that [img]smile.gif[/img] thats a V8

            also, i would love to do this, but how hard is it? I dont want to do anything wrong [img]tongue.gif[/img]

            and how do we connect the swicthes to the wires? i assume we start drilling the firewall... (i dont like cutting and drilling and my car, but sometimes, i just have to :D )

                OK some cars seem to have 2 connectors and some 3, but just look for the letters H and J, they are the same on all the cars as far as I know. And you do NOT need to drill through your firewall, there is a rubber grommet on the passenger side behind and below the PCM. If you remove the PCM you will see a piece of rubber on the firewall, just go through here. Its easier to go from the outside in, rather then trying to find the grommet on the indside. Just follow the directions on this website

                  i did the fan switch just like you are going to do it is very easy the hardest part is where you want to mount the switch. BUT!!!! it also made my check engine light keep going on. The computer sensed the entra wire resistance in the circuit and said there was a problem with both the fan circuits. a keep ereseing the codes but they would come back. just something to think about. as far as i knew it did not hurt performance only an anoying check engine light
