  • power passenger window slow?

Ok, I got the car with a slow a** passenger window. Not only that, but the car has to be turned on and running for it to roll all the way up or else it just sorta dies, like it operates on a battery that just died. Anyone else notice this? I know it's just warranty work, but as always, I'm a lazy a** and dont wanna drive a loaner for day or two unless anyone thinks my window is like gonna die in the down position, which would suck.

yeah i did on my old car(the 2000) but with the driver window, its just a motor problem, i had the warranty work done on it twice and it was working fine until my car got killed.

if both windows do not do it then i would suspect the motor on the door. IF it is not that then i suggest you have your battery and alternator tested. When you are at idle to the charging system show low or does it sit at 14 ?

I have a similar problem with my pass. side window as well. I have 53k miles, so no warranty for me :( My window on the right moves noticeably slower than the left one. When the engine is off, it's VERY slow, like it's about to die.

Welcome to F-Bodies. This is the number one problem with Camaros and Firebirds. Mine seemed 2 do it when it snowed.

yup yup. same here. pass window on my '99 Firebird. VERY slow, and did in fact die sometimes halfway down... not pretty when its raining! the dealer replaced the pass wind motor under warranty about 3 months ago... so far all is well.

It's most likely your power window motor. Yep, expect it to go out. I replaced my driver's side a few months ago, and right now the passenger side is starting to slow down, I'll probably have to replace it too in not so long.

But in any case, just go down to AutoZone or comparable auto parts store in your area, and you should be able to pick up the new window motor for $70. The install is relatively painless and can be done in a few hours.

A step-by-step picture how-to guide can be found at http://home.swbell.net/shoebox/windowmotor.html

and you can find some additional notes I made in this thread:

I'm having this problem, also. What are some symptoms of a bad power window motor?

Mine goes up REAL slow and makes a squeaky kind of sound. This is the same on both windows.

                              Thanks,
