  • Another Electrical Problem

For some reason my courtesy fuse keeps blowing out. At the same time it also shuts my radio off, I thought the radio was on a separate fuse? I unhooked the radio, checked the dimmer switch sinse i know you use that to turn the dome lights on, and that didn't fix it. It'll do it goin downt the road or just sitting in the garage. It literally almost blows the fuse right out of it socket. I haven't done any electrical work on it in weeks, so i don't know what is going on. Any ideas?

What did you do in the prior weeks?
Sounds like a hot-wire is being grounded out somewhere. Like it may have a small gash in the wire causing it to rub against metal and blow the fuse.

I jus checked all the radio wires, it's not them. what i don't get is why it doesn't blow intstantly, it takes like 5 minutes. The only thing I've done in the past weeks in put in new gauges, all ready un hooked those, still no help. Is there any specific spot that jumps out at anyone.

If it was me, I would hook up a voltometer into the fuse socket, and wait to see what happens next. If it's a surge (making the volts jump at an instant), then I would take it to have a professional look at it. It may be something like an alternator, or bad wire in the harness.
