  • Any results from Aquatune dynos?

I don't remember who on here was doing a dyno but I am still very interested in this. I know I read that the results wouldn't be until after xmas but I'm still waiting. thanks

You know whats funny, there was a Aquatune site, that I was looking at, that actually said that on a N/A car, it's not recommend at all.
Just for the forced inducted only.

Go figure, there are lots of sites that say that you will allways see a gain, N/A or force inducted....

hey wickedsix take a chemistry course and it will begin to make sense. I have thought this through and other than the hydrogen rich bubbles burning too hot and in turn possibly burning the pistons then it's full proof.

i'm curious how you know for sure that it is fool proof? what formulas are you basing your chemistry on? and show me what work you've done to prove it? from what i've seen on actual cars it hasn't worked at all. not bashing you but if you have scientific proof i'd like to see it.

I agree with Deuce Bigs! i know two people that have used water injection and it didnt increase gas mileage or horsepower, give me some proof!

Deuce, Magnus and I have warned them, that is all we can do. Let them waste their money. I had water injection and it didn't do squat(5hp). It was a "real" system BTW.

with how much they used it back in the days on air planes, ill at least give it the benefit of the doubt. If someone wants to put it on their car, more power too them. I doubt it could in any way hurt their car, and it will be beneficial for the rest of us that want to know on the board. I for one am very interested in how well this comes out. Even if not for horsepower, but for fuel economy as well.

Every 10% increase in humidity (of the incoming air) is equivalent to a boost of 3 octane. Any performance increase would come from this, not that "steam engine" bull **** they say on their website.

The way a steam engine works is very simple, you put WATER into a hot cylinder, when it boils you get STEAM. This steam takes up more space in the cylinder, thus the pressure needed to push the piston down is created.

This device (aquatune) injects atomized water. Atomized water is already steam! Since you already have steam (not water), no additional pressure (from converting water to steam) is created inside the cylinder.

The point they make about the carbon (hydrocarbon) build up is most likely also a bunch of crap. Try dissolving ash in distilled water and you'll see what I mean.

In conclusion, if you want to work out the formula to see the maximum theoretical power increase you'll get simply take your current humidity percentage (turn on the weather channel) and subtract that from about 85%, devide by 10 and multiply by 3. This should give you the amount of octane increase your fuel mixture will have when entering the cylinders.

I'll probably be cheaper (and safer) to go out to any pepboy's and buy a years worth of octane boost.

that's fine in theory(guess i should have asked for scientific proof it would help our cars not some possible race car) but our cars were designed to run on 87 octane. the computer is not going to see that you injected however much water and now have 100 octane and bump up the timing. after to high an octane you can start losing power. if you jsut wanna say you're running the equivalent of race gas go for it. this is the reason turbo/super cars that are running EXTREME amounts of boost use water/alcohol systems. i think you have a better idea jeff and just go to pepboys and get a can of octane booster

you could be correct. I guess we'll let the dynos prove one way or another but the point of the system isn't to create steam but instead to burn the hydrogen gas/ fuel mixture which will then cause the mixture to burn longer and at a higher octane. I don't know about the steam reducing the carbon on the cylinder walls. That could very well be BS. As for the work I've done, I am a high school senoir that took AP Chem junoir year and passed. There is much more difficult things than hydrogen burning on that. I also plan to attend college for a chem related field.
