I notice that I've been running a little hotter these days and I opened my hood to check my coolant levels only to find all this orange gunk on my engine... I recently had to keep putting coolant in after every 2 weeks... My coolant is leaking somewhere but I can't find the source... is it a bad water pump? I can't tell... anyone have this problem?

Check your heater box connection, its on the passenger side back connecting to the firewall, I had a similar problem but it was more of a user error thing.AIM: escalier deverre
\'02 Pearl Blue Metallic RSX-S (daily driver)
\'98 Black Firebird
98 V6 turbocharged to 02 LS1 swap
\'02 LS1/4L60E
LS6 Block, LS6 Intake Manifold, Thunder Racing 215/220 .600/.523/115 Cam, Titanium Retainers, Crane Double Valve Springs, 125 shot NX Wet Kit w/ NOS brand Purge, True Dual \"H\" Pipe w/ two chambers and dumps, 17x11(rear) and 17x9.5(front) Black Powdercoated ZR1 Replicas on 315 and 275 BFGoodrich Comp T/A\'s (Street)/ET Drags/Skinnies on Weldlites(Track), 3.42/LSD

Not quite sure about the 3.8L, but on my 3.4L there is a small black metal pipe that hooks into the intake manifold right below the thermostat to distribute coolant to the throttle body. Mine had a VERY small crack in one of the elbows on it, and it sprayed coolant everywhere. Had to get the part from the dealer but it fixed it. If thats the case you'll want to get that fitting that goes into the manifold as well.
Maybe you can find it with a blacklight? Cant remember if dexcool is blacklight reactive.

i had same prob..it was the water pump...i couldn't see where it was leaking, but i was running hotter than normal, and had to replace coolant frequently...when i went in for an oil change my mechanic saw it. wasn't too expensive, but it wasn't dirt cheap.
what's prob happening is it's leaking onto your belt and slinging all over the place. feel on the belt, and on the pump just above the belt.1998 Chevrolet Camaro L36 M5
1982 Toyota Celica Supra 7MGTE project car - FOR SALE

\"I find the most sensual part of the woman is the boobies.\" - Zap Brannigan
