My car is running hot.. It runs right at the 210 mark.. I have tried putting in a new thermostat but still 210. I have no idea what it is. My friend has a 98 camaro and his runs two or three lines under the 210. I know that running this hot cant be good for my car but does anyone know anything that might help me?? All replies are appreciated..

check the raidater, that was happening to mine and i did that and found a whole sports section blocking it, also it could be cause it has been real hot. also what kind of dirving is it? sidestreets or freeway? that makes a big difference.Fighting Texas Aggie class of 2008
black 3.4 T-top bird
- K&N CAI - magnaflo catback - slect coils - catco cat - tb coolant bypass

I noticed mine doing that today. I was sitting in heavy traffic with the A/C on but it stayed right around the 210 mark maybe even a bit higher. I got a little worried also because usually it is well under that mark.1997 Auto Y87 Package...Stock for now

I had the same problem, i thought it was somethign serious but I asked the mechanics at merchants and at this shop I got to in chantilly and they said its normal, the fans shoudl turn on at 210 and shouldn't let the temperature run over that. Also they recommended doing radiator flush like every 5K or 10 K miles, dont remember well, but that helps, my temperature is at like 190 or 180 all the time, if it gets to 210 it goes down as soon as I go fast for a couple of minutes.2005 Chevrolet Corvette C6
M6, Magnaflow\'s 14336
C6 Pics

Old car:
1996 Firebird A4
SLP Cold Air Intake
Magnaflow Catback Exhaust
Magnaflow Catalytic Converter

George Mason University
CEIE Major
Pi Kappa Alpha

Firebird Pics

210º is well within normal operating temperatures. Installing a lower temp thermostat will not necessarily lower your operating temps without adjusting the on/off temps of your cooling fans.
FWIW... the coolant temp gauge in our cars are far from accurate. Hook it up to Autotap (or other OBDII diagnostic scanner) and read the coolant temp... much more accurate! ;)
FYI...
V6 Camaro/Firebird Stock Cooling Fan Temperatures:
Low speed fans on/off at: 227°F/218F°
High speed fans on/off at: 235°F/228F°

Well since I've had my car which has been about a month it has ran at the 210 mark.. Never seen it run under that.. I have no idea what could be wrong.. My friends camaro runs 2 or 3 marks under 210 and rarely gets up to that mark. So what's wrong with mine..?? i appreciate the replies1999 Black T-Top Firebird A4
W68 and Y87 GT Packages, K&N Air Filter, Ram Air, Whisper Lid, Raised Airbox, SLP Exhaust, Comp Cam, Black Tailight Covers, Black Powdercoated Wheels, Painted Calipers and Side Vents

I bet your radiator needs a good flushing. Our cars should run around 180-190 while driving around. Our cars temps do go up to the 200-210 mark while in heavy stop and go traffic and after sitting idle for any more than a few minutes. Also remember it's summer so your engine is intaking hot air more than likely. Supposedly our low speed fans are supposed to come on around the 210 mark which is halfway on the heat gauge. If you gauge goes much past that then you either need to flush and refill coolant or get your radiator bored out. Or even your thermostat is crapping out it can rally be a lot of things but start with flushing and refilling your radiator. Do a search on the flush on refill though as it is actually quite a tricky process.

mine usually runs at 180, but every once in a while when im sitting in traffic with the air on it will get up to about 245!! I put in a fan switch for such occasions but at that temp i would think they would be on anyway. Either way, im going to do a radiator flush soon.

Don't worry about it being at 210. It's probably not even at 210 anyway, the temperature gauge is so inaccurate.

True statement....The gauge is almost always off. I have a 180 in mine and even after a flush and fill still show just below 210. I run a scanner on the car from time to time and the true temp is around 180 driving and 192 sitting still.

Yea, no kidding. In normal driving gauge reads 160* Atap shows it right around 180*, Now I have gotten it down to 160* with my manual fan switch on high for about 15 minutes when it was about 75* out :D2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
