It's weird, after I have had my car in park for a while (like when I wake up from sleeping) it is very hard to get the car out of park and into gear. Any suggestions as to what this might be? I have to pump the brakes a little and press the button on the shifter hard a few times until it goes.

could be the brake switch. There should be one mounted on the pedal to make it so you can put your car in gear.
