If u have an automatic, that is normal, all autos move on their own when u leave it in drive, its a very slow acceleration but one that is definitely there, so that is normal.

Make sure the pedal isn't getting caught on any carpet or anything. I know sometimes my car in the morning will rev up to 1200 rpm but then settle back down to 900 or 800. So i dont know.

haha, not when you have a huge-*** torque converter my car rolls backwards on a slight incline while in drive. on a flat surface i either don't move at all or inch forward with great sluggishness. it's kinda cool, you can sit at a red light without using brakes and people around you are like "wtf???" hehe.

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for about 3 minutes and reconnect. See if that fixes your problem. It could also be a dirty plunger on the IAC valve. You can remove the IAC and clean the pintle with brake cleaner or intake manifold/throttle body cleaner. Be careful with the rubber o-ring on the IAC during R&R on this part.
