    Hello, I Just made this site on how I changed my oil in my 02 Bird

    What do you think? Did I say anything wrong?

        I placed a piece of duck tape*

        it should be duct tape :D

        you might also want to mention the PF52 use, which is the longer ACDelco part. The Purolator cross reference is L24011

          auctually Duck is a name brand.. the funny thing is that it's not used for ducts.. (like heating and cooling) they use a completely different foil tape, the adhesive that is used with duck/duct tape is too gooey to work in attics and the sort..

            Duct tape was originally invented for ductwork, but was found to suck *** at sealing off air. Its really only good for high strength tape uses, like stopping 40mph cars or keeping people from tearing it and wrappin up people in it. [img]graemlins/evilgrin.gif[/img]

                Good idea with the tape. I would also suggest getting a oil pan that drains the oil down into anouther compartment that is able to be closed off for transporting the oil to where it can be dumped. Haven't two isn't bad either, one to catch the oil from the filter and one from the drain plug.

                The jack and jack stands aren't really necessary though if you have long arms like I do but makes it easier.

                  id say stick with the jack and stands, ive done it both ways, its 100 times easier with the jack and it seems to drain better too

                    i lift up one side with a 3 ton jack right be hind the front wheel.
                    also i use castrol GTX 20w-50 would synthetic make that much of a diffrence i got 38K miles

                          Not meaning to diss you, but a lot of people are reading this thread. I never get under 2 tons of metal without jackstands or ramps. Plenty of people have gotten hurt bad.

                            I dont trust jacks either. One time I was about to let my car down and the cap popped off and sprayed hydraulic fluid in my face and the jack fell fast. I could only imagine what would happen if i was still under the car.

                            And another time my friends jack fell and dropped the car tire on his foot. he couldnt move and called me in a panic. Good thing I was close enough to rescue him.

                              What do you do with old oils? Do you just dump them down the drain or something? I would like to change my oil myself but I don't know what to do with those old oils.
