it wouldnt hurt, im just disconnecting it.
it would be cool to get one of those disconnecting nobs that allow you to disconnect it quickly.
you should leave it in so you can crank the car once every one or two weeks to get the flids moving.
im doin that and an idea would to put the car up on jackstands so you dont get messed up tires.
otherwise, a winter wash and wax, and a car over will do it.-Justin-
Red 1996 Camaro RS- Wrecked 11-1-03...

1991 Camaro RS

Yeh, its a good idea to take the battery out, hook it up to a tender, stabilize your fuel, and clean the car really well, inside and out, I also change my oil, then rechange it again in the spring, I dont kno if it does anything, but someone mentioned it to me so I figured it couldnt hurt.96\' Camaro RS
Stock

If you have really cold winters it may not be a bad idea to take the battery inside your house, even if you have to put it back in every once in a while to start the car up.
Its not hard to pull the battery in and out of our cars.
It has been my experiance that cold weather kills batteries.1996 Silver Camaro, Y87, M5, cammed..
N/A Best Time: 14.012 @ 98.59
195 rwhp / 233 ft-lbs b/f heads/cam
Check out my site http://silver3800.cz28.com/

#1) If you are going to take the battery out, place the battery on an insulator (such as a piece of carpet or a piece of styrofoam) and not on the ground. The ground will displace electrical charge.
#2) Fill your gas tank! A full gas tank will be much less effected by vaporization and condensation in the vapor space of the tank. For all of the non chem eng out there, if you are on E, there is fuel vapor in the tank. When it gets cold, the vapor will condense. When the vapor condenses, air is sucked in. Moist air!
#3) I usually change my oil in the fall. Unless you have a leak, I see no reason to change it again in the spring. I have a 2001 that has the change oil light. I believe it is a moisture analyzer and not hydrocarbon. The first one went 7300, the second oil change lasted 7700. MOBIL 1! My car sat in the parking lot with a cover on it and 4 ft of snow and the battery connected. No problems.
#4) Jack stands would be nice if you are never going to drive it and work on it, but if you are in a garage, I would at least recommend 4 pieces of 1" by 10" to drive onto. This guy left his 1977 Oldsmobile in the garage for 2 years wihtout moving it. When he moved it last month, there were 4 white spots around the tread where the cold floor drew the polymer stabilizer out of the tire.

Why don't you guys drive your cars during the winter? Just don't drive it in the snow or if there's black ice on the roads but it's a car so drive it and enjoy it every chance you get. Just keep it clean and get it washed more often especially the undercarriage to keep the salt from messing stuff up.

My old camaro has been off the road too many times in the winter. I dont dare drive my new Camaro in the SLC snow. SO I got myself a '89 Chev celebrity for a winter car. Now I can put the 'maro away for the winter and not have to worry about wrecking it.

yeah, buffalo and a 2001 v6 with rear wheel drive in 9 ft of snow last year, I don't think so. Besides, the craters in the road due to Buffalo's lack of money will kill the suspension.
I hope your 89 is in decent shape, I just lost mine and upgraded to a 92 explorer.
