  • Oil leak...from above...

    Help me solve this- I can't figure out where exactly it's coming from, but its leaking from above the tranny/oil pan and coming down...I think it may be the valve seals?

    What else could it be?

    Don't think it would be your valve seals...if it was, you would get oil leaking into your combustion chamber and you would be blowing black smoke.

    Try the back of the intake manifold which seals the lifter valley or the valve cover gaskets.

      My vote is for rear main seal, it's pretty notorious on the 3.8 series 2

          i would go with a rear seal or valve cover gaskets to

            Rear main seal in not above the tranny.

              My car has the same thing and it is the rear main seal i can assure you.

                my 3.4 has a pain in the *** oil leak also. I removed the torque convertor cover and found a plate with 3 bolts right above the rear main seal.I believe its for the camshaft.I dont know if the 3.8 is the same but thats where my leak is coming from!!
