What would happen if you ran no thermostat? Is there a sensor that detects the flow of water? How does the PCM know if the stat is open, closed or gone? Can your PCM be tuned for no stat?

having no thermo will keep your PCM in open loop longer because it will take longer to reach operating temps. staying in open loop will not allow your vehicle to run at peak abilities because during open loop, your PCM controls everything based on predetermined programing and keeps your a/f ratio alittle rich

I've considered doing this, and what I'd have to do is put a pulse width modulator on my e-water pump to control the speed. I think it would be pretty effective. But if you're still running a belt-drive water pump, it wouldn't be good.

my car ran w/o a thermo for about 2 years untill i was going to put in a 160* and i discovered it had no thermo.

During this time it never ever ever over heated, in fact it never passed the first line.
