Another problem, this time its the heat!!

Hello guys, I'm back with a new problem. A month ago I lost my heat. The car would blow slightly warm air in the cabin. Then I would notice a slight smell of antifreeze burning, but could only smell it from the outside of the car. After looking into it I discovered one of the heater core's pipes was leaking outside in the engine compartment, which allowed the antifreeze to run down the freakin firewall and onto the exhaust pipe (hence the burning smell). I replaced the heater core,and got heat again. The very next day notice the front of the engine was wet...Yep, now the water pump gasket is leaking (161,000 miles). I did not have a pulley puller to remove the power steering pulley so I used some "stop leak additive", till I got a puller. Then sometime time later, I lost my heat!! Needless to say, the leak is gone, and I have gotten the pulley puller (just been too lazy to do the work). Really dont think the water pump would ever be my problem with the no heat issue. So my question is, what could be causing my heat problem? I figure I'd do everything at one time!! Thanks again.

And if it's not the thermostat the stop leak stuff may have clogged your heater core

Crap!! I really didn't want to hear that the leak stop could've clog the new heater core. Thermostat, hmmm...I'll pick one up today and try that. Are they easy to replace? What if the stop leak did clog my heater core, is there an easy way to "unclog" it besides r&r??? Thanks.

Cool, guess I'll be doing that tonight! Oh, I see some people go with a diff thermo for performance mods? Whats that all about? I rememember seeing something about replace the oem, 180, with a 160??
