  • Any way to turn abs off??

Does anyone know if theres a safe and easy way to turn the abs off on a 1998 camaro?? ever since i got 18s in the back and 17 in the front and i brake hard in the rain or slippery condition the abs is acting funny on me.
    i could do without it.

    thanks

I dont suggest dumping the ABS, who knows when you would really need it.....is'nt acting funny better than locking all your wheels having no turning capabilites and slamming into another car....being able to turn under hard braking in an emergency situation is a BIG thing.....Id think about it first ;)

put a switch in where the fuse would be and fuse the wire that goes to your switch then when you want you can turn it off. also when it is off your back brakes dont really work, at least when i pull ebrakes for a long ways and my abs turns off i only have front brakes, although it is fun to power brake with what I think is line lock(only front brakes,) good luck, i havent tried it but my friend did. still not too sure about it

thanks for all the feedback guys. Die Ford V8 i dont think thats right, all your brakes should work correctly even with the abs off. i think it just might have felt that way since the majority of the braking is done with the fronr brakes.

            no they wont

i was pulling a bunch of ebrakes one day when i noticed the ABS inop light was on. i hit the brakes and only the front ones worked. you can go forty and turn and hit the brakes and the back end wont go around you because your back brakes dont work. i sat there and roasted my tires with the brakes fully depressed. then after cruising for a while the light went off and returned to normal. if it happens to you just disconnect your battery and reset the computer.

if this happens go in reverse really fast crank the wheel and slam on the brakes, it is sure fun. unplug your fuse and you will see for yourself, only temporarily though because your front brakes will obviously wear out quick and it is dangerous
