Quick Help Oil Sending Unit?

Vehicle is a 94 3.4 auto

i was changing my oil when i accidentaly broke or knocked off this long about 4'' cylindrical object off some sore of oil pressure thing.

The object im talking about is right on the part where you screw on the oil filter.

Well when i knocked it off i was curious as to what it was and i pushed the little plastic thing in and i think i broke it.

But does the long cylidrical thing just scre on or what? I mean i just barely rubbed it and it came off.

if it is the oil sending unit is just screws into the block near the oil filter. but i don't know on a 3.4 i had to replace it on my 3.8

hmm yea i think it is i took a closer look and i got brave and i unscrewd it from the block and it looks like it has some sort of nipple thing on it..

Now how do i know which part is bad the part that screws onto the block or the other part?

I think it is just one part that you broke and the whole thing costs like $20 at auto zone
