Ok well I plan to change my spark plugs and wire in the next few days. Well I notice the Taylor wires came what looks like silicone. Is this for the plug to wire side or for the thread side of the plugs for a better seal?

If your talking about a dab of silcone gel inside both ends of the boots, it's for aid instaling & removal. This prohibits the boots from "freezing" on the plugs or on coil packs.Silicone is not used on threads, usually if you don't want the threads to sieze you put on a copper based anti - sieze compound, of couse sparingly on the threads of the plugs.BTW hope you have better luck with the Taylors than I had with the MSD Superconductors. I had a problem with their crimps on terminals comming loose, & not making contact, thus a missfire, that was'nt picked up by OBD2.Hope that answers the inquiry.Good luck changing the wires, it is a long ,tedious, wrist wrenching project on our '98 3800's!geocor

Plugs & wires could take 4+ hrs depending how fast you work.Beware of plugs 3-4 &6. 4 you get from the top but it is at a real tough angle, have to twist your hand in all kinds of gyrations to get at it!It's best to remove the maifold sheilds on both sides to get them easier. The only way I could see getting 3-5&6 are from the bottom of vehicle.#3 is worst you allmost have to "flip" the boot off the plug it's that hard to grab.On 6 you better have a plug socket with a hex at the end, because its too close to the O2 sensor to get a ratchet handle to fit.5 is a piece of cake from the bottom,1&2 are fairly easy from top.One tip keep some new skin liquid bandage or the like on hand you'll get plenty of srapes & nicks!Just done it saturday & sunday so I'm fresh of this one!geocor

Good luck with the gloves, I have never been able to work with goves on( can't feel anything) but in this instance some of the places are so tight that you might find with the glove on you will not be able to reach what you are trying to get to. I just did plugs and wires on my 96 today in about 1:30. I think that might be a record good luckRemember that sometimes, silence is the best answer.<br />Warren White<br />1996 PoloGreen Coup <a href=\"http://vampyr.settanni.net/\" target=\"_blank\">http://vampyr.settanni.net/</a> <br />\"Jealousy\"<br /> CTFBA member of the month Sept 03
