Help! My engine is overheating, to a point around 200-210 when im CRUISING, which is usually was around 180 ... my brother told me to go ahead and install a new thermostat and flush the coolant, does this sound like a good idea? (fya i just installed slp cai like 3 days ago, could this be the problem? i dunno ) how much coolant (dex cool right?) should i buy? and is this hard to do by yourself? thanks!

Doing what your brother said is fine. Just make sure the coolant is actually burnt before changing it. A new thermostat may help you out too. I have a 3.4L camaro and I did the flush and thermostat replace my self It wasnt hard and didnt take me long to do. You might also want to check the air deflector (the big black piece of plastic) under the car. If its really worn out or broken then no air is being forced into the radiator.

yeah..your thermo may be stuck.....do the cheap things first...thermo/flush before anything drastic...use dexcool if your coolant is orange...if it is green, stick with the green.

if your coolant is burnt, make sure you can distinguish the difference from orange and burnt too

If you are going to flush yourself....make sure you take your time with it. you want to flush it out a lot to get all the crap out. I did this with my brother in december ( f*ckin cold) with a garden hose/baking soda/and coolant. ended up being a blown gasket. hope this helps

now why would he wanna do that? :D Seriously though TAKE YOUR TIME. I just hate where the 3.4's thermo is, right underneath the manifold.
