• Power Window Problem.Different problem than most :(

please notice, i have searched for over an hour and my problem seems to be a bit different
ok, good friend called me up and her windows were acting up..so she went by azone and picked up new motors...but here is what she didnt tell me...both windows went out at the same time..she said they will move maybe once every 2-3 weeks, but just an inch or so...i changed out the circuit breaker, swapped switches from my camaro to hers and still no luck...is there some type of relay or control module other than the auto down feature? could the auto down module be bad, thus shorting the system?? when i press down or up on both the windows, the voltmeter doesnt move a bit..even when pressing the driv and pass controls..totally dead.. what to do??

There's a switch or relay or something under the dash that will switch to open if too much head or resistance is built up in the line. After it has time to cool it will close again. I think that's how my uncle explained this to me back when we switched my motors. The deal with mine was that the motors were going out and creating too much heat build up in the line so the switch would turn open. You can just turn on the accessories and try to roll up the window and you can here it click when it opens. I have no idea why it would only work once a week though. I'm sure there's also more technical names for this stuff that somebody else can add in.

If it's periodic that the windows work/don't work then the motors are going bad. I've replaced enough of them over the years and this is typical.

Did you check the fusebox? My mom's old Volvo once had a burnt fuse that caused all 4 power windows to stop working.

Check the black ground wire on the driver side switch.
