When I press the release button for the back hatch it does not release. You can hear the motor run, but it never releases. Anybody else had this problem? Any way to fix it?

Two things come to mind that would be easy to check. First, I think (and its been about a year since I worked on the hatch release) the actuator on the release grounds right there under it. Make sure that the wire hasn't come loose or is broken. Second, The parking brake has to be on for the release to work, there is a small switch on the parking brake lever, maybe that has broken or come loose.
Otherwise, I would suspect the relay or the actual actuator on the release mechanism. Easiest thing to do would be to disconnect the electrical connector, use a voltmeter and have a friend hit the button.
