Help with mirror

Im kind of in a mode today to fix easy little problems. So I finally get to my driver's side mirror that has been offset now for about 5months. I looks like 2 of the cables came off the plastic base of the mirror some how. I took the 3 screws out inside of the mirror and the mirror doesn't want to pull out. Is there anyway you can take it out so i can repair it? Or do I have to get a whole new mirror. Thats what the guy at western auto said anyway. If so i have a few ?s. Can firebird mirror's fit camaros? Is there any aftermarket mirror that is inexpensive I can use. And how much would gmpartsdirect.com probaby sell them for? I haven't checked yet but usually I have to email what im looking for in.

I had the same problem as yours and my extended warranty covered that issue. They (Pontiac) had to buy the whole assembly in order to fix my problem. They showed me the GM parts catalog and GM only sells them as a whole unit. Its 75 +/- bucks for the unit (includes the shell unpainted) as I remembered. Goodluck.
