  • "Low Oil"

OK, a few days ago I drove my car and the light "Low Oil" came on, and my gf told me that I had left some oil marks on her driveway before. My guess was that I had an oil leak and for that reason the "Low Oil" light had came on. It was time for an oil change so I changed my oil and poof, no more light. The next day I went to work and the light came on. I kept driving because I noticed no oil marks on my driveway. It drives fine like any other day but the light comes on. Now after work that same day I turned on the car expecting the light to come on and it didn't. Then today I stopped by two places and in on it turned on and in the second stop it didnt. What's going on with my car?

hows the oil pressure? could be the oil pump is starting to go or the oil sending unit is going out.. id say one of the two.. but definately keep an eye on that oil pressure gauge.. and closely monitor the oil level.

I agree with camaroman1181, keep an eye on that pressure gauge, and the actual oil level. If the oil level doesn't change for a week or so, and the pressure seems fine in that time, then its most likely the low oil sensor. For a year mine would go on and off randomly, yet pressure was fine and so was the oil level. A Couple of weeks ago I replaced the sensor and that got rid of the light. You can pick up the sensor at any advance auto, checkers, etc, for about $33. The dealer will want more than $50.
