• Plug Wires Question

I am posting this for a Bro from our group who is waiting approval to access this site. "surveyor6"

I am helping him tune and Mod his car. A newer 3.8 A4. When he went to the Autoparts store I had recommended MSD or Taylor plug wires but they had no listing for them for a V6. I then told him to wait till the performance shops opened up on Monday and ask them. They had no listing either.

What plug wires are the best to use and does anyone have a Number on then for reference? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Charlie

Just get a universal high performance set with the correct types of boots for each end.

taylor wires seem to be the overall best for our cars. MSD's and some other types tend to have the boots melt.

the taylors are custom made for our cars, and are only like $35 or so.

check like www.tbynremotorsports.com or something like that

i used the accel 8.8 300+ ferro spiro wires on my car. The universal kit was 80 bucks at autozone. I probably could have shopped around and saved some money but they are awesome..

Ian, I have never seen a MSD boot melt on a 3.4L or a 3.8L V6 unless the user simply did not install them right or didn't keep them away from the exhaust pieces.

In my mind, the MSD wires are the best because they offer the least resistance per foot. They are a little more pricey, but from experience, they last longer than the Taylors do. I have had Crane Firewire, Taylor and MSD wires on my car and the MSD's were the best out of those. Now, I have Nology Hotwires on and I can't say enough about them.

Do you have a part # for the MSD or Nology wires?

You wont be able to notice any difference with any wire you chose; however, MSD advertises the least resistance per foot than any other wire. As viper stated they are pricey. But thats what i went for. Go to any auto store that carries plug wires and just get ask the worker for one end with a long boot (spark plug end) and the other end for the 90 degree angle boot ( coil pack end)
