• dang fuel rail - part #, tips??

Yes, I cracked it. Bummer... Last night I noticed it looked like it had been seeping a little where I added the fuel pressure gauge and the nitrous fpss onto the schrader valve a while back. So I torqued it down, just a little more. This morning, it wouldn't hold any pressure...
Checked under the hood, and sure enough there is a puddle of gas sitting on top of the intake.

I almost have the fuel rail off now. There sure is a bunch of other junk in the way. Took off the coils and the purge valve on the passenger side (now I know that that thing is anyway).

The fuel rail has a sticker with number 17098212 Delphi 97302. Can't find this part number on gmpartsdirect.com and no dealers around here open until Tuesday. Is this the correct GM part number?

Any tips on taking it off and putting it back on? (and how to avoid cracking it again...)

Some of the injectors are still connected to it, some I took off to clear the engine and accessories. Probably new o-rings top and bottom. I may go ahead and get a set of 24lb injectors while it's all apart. Do they come with o-rings?

Any other thoughts on the removal and reinstall???

Dude I had the SAME problem a few weeks ago. Did you read my post in the lounge about my car almos burning to a crisp?

Pull the fuel rail. Pull off all the injectors off. Run a TON of water though it. Then run simiple green through it. Then run some more water through it. Be very through as you must remove ALL the gasoline and fumes from the rail.

Then weld it. Torch welder with silver. Your schrader valve will be 100 times stronger in the future too.

Thanks guys!!

Magnus, yes now I do remember reading about your's. I had a vague recollection of someone doing this recently. I hardly ever pop into the lounge, but once in a while I do. I searched a couple of forums, but didn't think about going in there...

Umm, torch welder with silver. Ok, what specifically do I need? One of those little pencil torches? Is this something I could tackle myself?

Viper, thanks for the part numbers. Man those things are high $$. I will look into repair first. I was thinking it would be more like $35, just guessing.

I just bought a '94 Passport off an age-old buddy of mine, so at least I have something to drive while I work out the kinks with the Camaro...
