I have a custom 3 inch cai, but i was looking and i have an idea. i dont have fog lights, so im thinking of mounting a 3 inch pipe with a 90 at that whole on the drivers side where the foglight would be. then running it over to where the whole is for the stock intake, up and into an inline air filter and over to the intake. Like a retarded ram air, and at the very least it will bring in much colder air from completely outside the car. Any ideas? feel free to trash the idea now.

I think that's a great idea. Sure couldn't hurt anyway. I actually have though about doing something similar--Get some flex tubing, run it from the foglight hole along the nose of the car and over that plastic radiator shroud, into the bottom of the stock airbox.1998 M5 3.8 Mystic Teal Camaro
Flowmaster exhaust, Pacesetter headers, 3\" cat, 3\" S-pipe, whisper lid, ram air, Spec Stage 1 clutch, Poly Trans mount, Walbro 255LPH. Some things to think about...
You will most likely have to cut your bumper cover to fit the tubing in behind the openings.
You have to make sure you have enough room to clear the bumper rienforcements.
You will have to have a sealed compartment to fit the airfilter in unless you use the stock airbox.
You probably won't see much of a gain.
Hope this helps.UAH FSAE
Chief Engineer
http://chargermotorsports.com
http://members.cardomain.com/camaronat

You would not have to cut anything to get tubing out from the foglight cutout. I say go for it.1998 M5 3.8 Mystic Teal Camaro
Flowmaster exhaust, Pacesetter headers, 3\" cat, 3\" S-pipe, whisper lid, ram air, Spec Stage 1 clutch, Poly Trans mount, Walbro 255LPH. You're better off with a cone filter on the end and just try to get cold air. You need to remove the radiator support to make room for the hose so you have to make a bracket for the radiator and you will have to cut the bottom off of the fuse box to make room for the hose to get to the bumper. This is the set up I have.
I thought a long time about doing ram air but there are too many bends to get a good true ram air effect. Works great for cold air though.
Even better would be dual cones, removing both fog lights. Run a hose/pipe along the bottom of the radiator to a "T" then have the outlet of the "T" go up to the TB. For that you would just have to cut some plastic on the engine side of the two pockets behind the fog lights and avoid the belt.01 Camaro A4 Convertible

i thought about doing that, relocating my battery and using both fog lights holes, and coming around both sides of the radiator to a t in front of the intake. But a T with more of a butt shape for lack of a better term to force air into the intake. i think at the very least it would look bad ***, having dual cold air intakes coming into your intake from both sides.Pain Heals, Chicks dig Scars, and Glory is forever.
3 inch custom CAI, 8.8 Accel Spiro Fero wires, Bosch platinums, Flowmaster 80 series catback

yea but then again that is a long path for your air to follow just to get to the engine. A simple CAI like you probably have already works just as good.
But hey, only one way to find out if it really works and you gain anything rihgt? Try it out.

i had the idea a long time ago that i still might do:
after i get my turbo, i wanted to mount flex tubing to the foglight covers and run it to a shroud that would surround the intercooler for additional cold ari flow1994 white Firebird M5
Flowmasters, CAI, 3.73s, LSD, coated pacesetters, eibach pro-kit, bilsteins, hurst shifter, JVC stereo, 18\" C5 vette wheels, Kuhmo Ecsta ASX rubber

http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/744299

Coming Soon: Turbo!
