Stupid Car

Ok… the car is acting funny… I got an SES Light, and the exhaust fumes seem to be escaping in intervals. I don’t know if you guys know what I mean. When I put my hand in front of the fumes when they are coming out, it’s not steady, it’s like, out, stop, out… I hope you get the point. Also, the cars acceleration is not as good as it used to be. So far, I replaced the fuel filter, serpentine belt… The sparkplugs along with the wires were replaced less than a year ago, but the car isn’t really misfiring so I’m pretty sure it’s not those. WHAT CAN IT BE? Is it possible that it’s a problem with the cat or the muffler? Hopefully it’s nothing more serious like a blown head gasket or fuel pump going bad. Please help me out. I want to thank in advance for all replies!

That's how my friends Supra was when his timing was off, except he didn't get the SES light.

isnt the timing on our cars automatic though??...and I dont know how your muffler would be causing that prob...bring your car to autozone they pull the code for free I think....

i had that same prob for a while.....you need to have the fuel injectors cleaned by either the dealership or any place that will hook up to the nozzle on the fuel rail and use a high pressure tool to really clean thoes out , then is should run great , after all that you need to start using quality gas like Chevron w/Techron 92 octane , and the problem shouldnt reappear.....hope i helped

The first thing you need to do is get that SES light checked out. I would recommend seeing if anyone on here has Autotap in your area (if not here try ls1.com or camaroz28.com). That way you can see what the light is.

As for the exhaust, it should feel like a steady pulse, so it will give the feel of off on off on, but it should be pretty fast and steady.

You really can't diagnose the problem properly until you can see what the light is.

If it is fuel injectors... would that add to fuel thing help cause I'm short on cash... going to try to go to autozone tomorrow to get the ses codes... THANKS FOR ALL REPLIES!

As for the exhaust it's not a steady quick on and off... it's fairly slow!

as for the add to tank stuff.....i tried that it makes a slight diff but then the prob comes back in like two days. you have to believe me when i say that my car ran like crap for a year and i took it in all the time and they replaced plugs , wires , coils , and anything that warranty would allow and then a different tech said that the one guy was an idiot and that he is going to clean the injectors and after he did.......WOW......i had my car back to normal.....one or two clogged injectors can make the engine run like crap or even lead you to believe that the timing is off of somthing else.....and if your low on cash remember what i said..i had my car in and out of the shop for a year before they fixed it so you have time.just go easy on it and you will be fine.......... ;)
