  • Ticking Noise

Amidst the other rattles and odd noises my car makes, I have developed a new tick that bothers me a bit. From a roll, if I punch the gas enough for it to downshift and accelerate hard, I get about a half a second of ticking noise from the engine, then it goes away. Again, this is only when the tranny downshifts and the engine revs. stuck valve or something? Any ideas??

Exhaust leak, most likely at the gasket.

no.... its not an exhaust leak. I should have said rattly-clicking maybe instead of ticking.

        Oh.

Valvetrain noise. Could very well be sticking valves, but there's no real way to check without going after it with a stethoscope.

since it only happens when I really hit the gas hard from a roll (like mashing it while on the expressway) is it something I should worry about at the moment, or put it off till I save up and re-do valvetrain and cam anyway.
