i know a place where i can get 100 octane gas, cause its right near a track, would there be any disadvantage to running this daily? would it be harmful having too much octane? or the more the merrier?

it can help you since it is more resistant to detonation. i would recomend you drive a little bit on the street with it so you computer will "learn" the new fuel limits before you get to the track. i have read that a 30min or so drive is enough time for the computer to figure it all out and net you max gain from teh new fuel.

what I have been told is that new cars are tuned to run on the octane that the manufature specifies and if you run something different it could hurt performance. the only time higher octane would help is so you could advance the timming more without detonation.white 1996 camaro 3800: flowmaster American thunder cat back. hypertech 160* stat, and manual fan switch

yea it shouldnt hurt anything in you engine but it will definitly put a dent in your wallet if you ran it everyday like you said. Around here theres a few pumps with it and its like $5 a gallon-Chris
2001 Pewter Camaro M5
Current Mods: NOS Dry Kit and a few others
N/A: 15.5@88.9MPH
N2O: ???
http://www.cardomain.com/id/jtusa69888

You don't have any Forced Induction or power adders? Don't bother running 100 octane. Your car will run just fine on basic, run of the mill, go-go juice. If you feel the need, go ahead and run mid or high grade gas, but chances are there are plenty of other things you could do to your car, to help performance, with the money you would be throwing down the drain running higher octane fuel.1997 Cayenne Red Metallic Camaro
3.8 V6 M5
SLP Cold Air Intake
Ceramic Coated Pacesetter Headers
Flowmaster American Thunder Catback
Full 3.42 & Disc Break Rear End Swap

You will tell a little gain from 100 octane, but you could always do the 112 or 110 octane too. I ran a few tanks of that stuff through mine and it's a huge difference. It's $3.75/gallon though so don't get addicted.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

Yep white96six is on the right track. There is no point in running anything higher than 87 octane unless you reprogram your computer. What you would expect is that your car advances your timing; however it's already programmed with a specific timing advance, so it won't make any difference. With computer programming you are able to advance your timing (depending on the type of fuel your using) to right before detonation occurs so that you can gain maximum performance.
Hope that helps answer your question. 2000 Black Firebird Y87
K&N filter, Whisper Cold Air Intake, Cutout Exhaust;
3.42 Gears, LSD;
160* Powerstat, Removed Silencers, MAF screen removed;
Zex hyperformance Spark Plugs, MSD Superconductor Wires, Manual Fan
Switch
15.08@90.86 2.149 60ft
