I'm not sure if the thermostat in my car is stock or an aftermarket one. When I bought the car it came with some mods, and I'm not sure if this is one of them. The temperature gauge gets to about 185-190 degrees and stays there, never moving once it's warmed up.
Is there anyway to tell what kind is in there aside from taking it out and checking?

well, i dont have a low temp thermostat, but if your car had a low temp thermo., like 160 degrees or something, i would expect it to stay around that temp. i heard that our cars stock thermo. is set at 190's range, so that also gives me a hint.

its still hard to tell, even if you did have a low temp thermo it would stil get above 160 or 180 or whatever. i have a 180 but it doesnt always stay that low. i suppose you could warm up the car and see at what temperature you can feel the coolant flowing through the tubes
You have a 98. There is only 3 bolts to take out and some paper towel to catch the coolant. Get a thermometer and some heated water, and test it. That is probably the only to tell for sure.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
