My friend has a '72 Camaro with a 305 I believe. What are the chances that I could actully beat him in a 1/4 mile so he stops bragging? What mods will help me the most in trying this? Thanks for whatever help you can give me.

Just race him, it should be a close race. He's bragging already anyways, so what's it going to hurt. If you win you can shut him up.1999 Silverado- Bagged, colormatched and rollin on stock chrome 16\'s
Make love not war, hell do both, get married

In 1972 the Camaro came with 5 different V8s. The base V8 was a 307 CID producing 130 bhp. The biggest V8 was a 402 cid producing 240 bhp. The '72 Coupe weighted about 3250 lbs. The 305 V8 was introduced to the Camaro in 1976 as the LG3 and produced 140 bhp.
Your '95 3.4 V6 produces 160 bhp and the Coupe weights about 3251 lbs.
So, depending on a lot of other factors, it could be a close run with the V6 beating out the V8.
Not unusual.

My friend does have the 307. He has long tube headers and dual glass packs. I have headers and 3" flowermaster with K&N intake. Are we still close or will he kick my a$$?Ben

1995 White/Black 3.4L
As far away from stock as possible
My Site!!!
RedLineV6
Rebuild and 3.4 T70 Turbo is complete
Details to come....

Well, that is hard to say. Assuming both cars have the same tranamisson type and gear ratios and both are in good mechanical shape, then it comes down to the driver, tires, and rear end especially if the trans are manual. This assumes that the 307 is stock with the two barrel carb. Given all that, I would put my money on the V6 in the quarter by less than a foot.2001 Camaro M5 Coupe(1 of 2,737), no options, Whisper Lid, K&N Air Filter, Free Ram Air, MAFS Screen removed, SLP Manual Fan Switch, 160 thermo, DEE\'s T/B Spacer, EGR Block-off plate, IAT resistor, CAI to EGR air feed, B&M Ripper Shifter, SLP Replacement Grill, T/A Exhaust, SLP five spoke take-off wheels, BMR strut-tower brace, BMR Tunnel Brace, BMR 32/21 front & rear sway bars with poly, BMR Poly/Combo Rear Control Arms, Clear front & rear corners, HPP3 modified 87 Octane program.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red2k1

If you got the power pack you could smoke him, my friend had a early 80s camaro with i think the 305 if not the 350. Anyways i raced and beat her pretty hard, i am pretty good at street racing, but if you have the power pack, you should murder him.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

The '72 307 CID V8 produced 230 lbs-ft of torque @ 2400 rpm. The '95 3.4 V6 produces 200 lbs-ft of torque @ 3600 rpm. Keep the revs in the sweet part of the torque band.2001 Camaro M5 Coupe(1 of 2,737), no options, Whisper Lid, K&N Air Filter, Free Ram Air, MAFS Screen removed, SLP Manual Fan Switch, 160 thermo, DEE\'s T/B Spacer, EGR Block-off plate, IAT resistor, CAI to EGR air feed, B&M Ripper Shifter, SLP Replacement Grill, T/A Exhaust, SLP five spoke take-off wheels, BMR strut-tower brace, BMR Tunnel Brace, BMR 32/21 front & rear sway bars with poly, BMR Poly/Combo Rear Control Arms, Clear front & rear corners, HPP3 modified 87 Octane program.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red2k1
